Those Stubborn Mules

Mules have been out of the picture for a while, but they might be coming back yet again.

Why we love mules:

  • They look ladylike with skirts and add feminine flair to a pair of masculine trousers, too.
  • A nude pair can give the appearance of a longer, leaner leg like almost nothing else.
  • The style is simple, so the details don’t have to be.
  • You can wear them…

One standout shoe in the Neiman Marcus Spring 2012 sneak preview is the Nicholas Kirkwood Glittered Macrame Lace-Up Platform Sandal ($1,295).

Dark and mysterious are usually two adjectives reserved mostly for fall and winter fashion, but these shoes come with a hint of gothic romance, a sensuality and danger most spring and summer shoes don’t exhibit. Perhaps that’s why they stand out in a menagerie of bright colors and nudes. More likely, it’s the shimmering macrame perched atop a 5.25-inch heel and a rocking platform.

To wear these or any ostensibly sexy shoes that leave your feet on display, make sure to…

Color-block shoes are popping up everywhere for Spring/Summer 2012. Soon, you’ll find everything from peep-toe pumps to boat shoes with bright (and sometimes even pastel) colors snuggled up together from a variety of designers. Some are available now at stores like Dillard’s and Neiman Marcus, while others haven’t quite made it to the scene yet.

Dillard’s is promoting styles from Vince Camuto, Jessica Simpson, BCBGeneration, Calvin Klein, Gianni Bini, and Pelle Moda right now. See some of what they have to offer:

The Jessica Simpson Weema Peep-Toe is different from most of the other color-block styles we’re seeing for this spring. Most feature bright colors, but these shoes meld two trends together: color-blocking and pastels.

The Pelle Moda Yvanka sandal takes two colors you may not expect to see together and channels a retro platform vibe and T-strap. Neiman Marcus’ Spring Fashion Week preview includes a few styles as well:

The Giuseppe Zanotti’s Two-Tone Swirl Sandal combines a five-inch heel and curves that never end…

Everybody’s talking about Spring styles, but the temperatures are dropping here in the US and there’s still a need for cute winter accessories.

Enter this fantastic bow scarf from Tarnish. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing more classic than black and white stripes.

Paired with red skinny jeans, a black top and these Eddie ballet flats from Tory Burch, the bow scarf screams casual sophisticate. Tie it on with a LBD for an unexpected punch of Parisian flare.

Dressed up or down, the Tarnish bow scarf can be yours for the very reasonable price of $38.00 at Nordstrom.

Make your handbag jealous with the all new laptop handbags that are currently popping up everywhere. Gone are the days of the cookie cutter laptop cases which were crossbody, boxy, and flap top. This is 2012 and laptop handbags are barely recognizable anymore and are now being made to resemble luxury handbags. Made in all kinds of shapes, styles, and colors, these bags are for the fashionista and we are loving it! Ebags.com has a great selection to try this new style. These cases make a great option instead of a briefcase and are sophisticated for the office, or maybe you are a college student and really into fashion. There is a style and a color for everyone and every profession. I LOOK GOOD’s pick is the ClaireChase Valencia Laptop handbag. We like the show stopping red color but it is also available in saddle and black.

This handbag features a medium sized body with a drawstring type leather tie that is loosely belting it. The handles have silver toned O rings and make for a nice embelishement. Buy through ebags.com for $279.99

Emily Cho has just released its spring/summer 2012 collection. The collection is full of springtime brights and origami style silhouette clutches. Florals are also a big hit in the collection and the soft, lavender prints are beautifully done. There are also some metallic prints thrown into the mix also and I personally love metallics for summertime because when the sun hits them just right it makes you shine! My favorite from the collection is the oversized lady triangle crossbody tote.

In a bright color like fuschia you cannot go wrong with this handbag for summer or spring. The color is great for coordinating with your sundresses or for contrasting with say, yellow. Shop emily-cho.com to view the entire collection.

Not a “classic” style handbag yet, but the style just keeps coming back so in my eyes, it is already a classic. The bucket bag is very versatile and it’s return to the fashion must have lists has gotten them closer and closer to “classic” status. The bucket bag first started with Louis Vuitton in 1932 and was called the “Noe” bag which was originally used to carry champagne. Then it came into the fashion world in the 80′s, and 90′s. In 2009, we saw it hitting the fashion runway and the drawstring was added to the style.

Nowadays every designer has their own style of the staple and though I don’t forsee it being a trend this spring and summer I would expect to see it next spring and summer in pastel colors, snakeskin prints, and vibrant colors. If you are a true fashionista and like to be one step ahead of the game on trends, bucket bags are coming back! My favorite is the 7 Chi Heather Bucket Bag pictured above. Made of rich leather and eye catching metal embellishments, it also features adjustable straps so that you can control the length. Available on endless.com for $160.
